Boeing to Lay Off 17,000 Employees
U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing has announced plans to lay off 10% of its global workforce, which amounts to approximately 17,000 employees.
According to reports, this decision comes after a month-long strike involving 30,000 workers. The strike has caused significant financial losses for Boeing, with third-quarter losses reaching a record $5 billion. CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that the layoffs are necessary to recover from the financial impact of the strike.
Additionally, the highly anticipated launch of Boeing's 777X passenger aircraft has been delayed until 2026 due to the strike. Following the layoff announcement, Boeing's stock saw a decline of more than 1% in the market.
